Free to build · payment reminder kept separate from eviction procedure

State what is owed. Keep the formal notice process clean.

Document the overdue rent, due date, any lawful late fee, total balance and payment instructions without presenting a general reminder as a statutory pay-or-quit notice.

  • Itemized balance
  • Clear pay-by date
  • Separate legal-notice process

How it works

From a reconciled rent ledger to a clear reminder and delivery record

  1. 01

    Verify the ledger and lease

Confirm the rental period, due date, payments, credits, grace period and any lawful late-fee term.

  2. 02

    Itemize the amount

Separate unpaid rent from any lawful fee, state the total and give precise payment instructions.

  3. 03

    Send and preserve a copy

Use a permitted delivery method, save proof and start any statutory notice process separately if needed.

What is a late rent notice?

A late rent notice is a written reminder that rent has not been received by the applicable due date. It identifies the rental period, original due date, unpaid rent, any separately stated lawful late fee, the total requested and how to pay.

This template is designed as an ordinary account reminder, not a statutory pay-or-quit, notice to quit or termination notice. Those formal documents can require exact wording, cure periods, attachments and service methods that vary by location. A late rent notice is also called:

  • Past-due rent reminder
  • Rent demand letter
  • Overdue rent notice
  • Rent arrears letter
Keep formal process separate

If you intend to demand possession or begin an eviction case, use the jurisdiction-specific eviction notice and follow its timing and service rules.
